Defensive lineman added to practice squad

As the Tennessee Titans plot their next move with the offensive line, they were forced to move on from a contingency plan at that spot.

The Titans signed defensive lineman Lyndon Johnson to their practice squad Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5, 287-pounder filled an opening created when the Green Bay Packers signed guard Adam Pankey off the practice squad. Tennessee signed Pankey to the practice squad at the start of the preseason after the Packers cut him. He had spent the past two seasons shuttling between Green Bay’s active roster and practice squad.

Johnson entered the NFL in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati and spent most of the season on Jacksonville’s practice squad. He was promoted the active roster in December, played in three games and registered two tackles.

“Of course doing all the scout team stuff was hard, but you have to wait on your turn,” Johnson told The Florida Times-Union last December. “But the thrill of playing was like a dream come true.”

Johnson played 26 games at Cincinnati after one season at Holmes Community College, where he played football and basketball.
