Jordan Williams waived-injured; James Folston signed

The worst possible thing for a Tennessee Titans’ roster longshot is to get injured during training camp because that is going to be the end of the opportunity.

Monday the Titans waived-injured outside linebacker Jordan Williams, which made him the third player in as many days to be cut loose after getting hurt.

Undrafted free agent linebacker James Folston was signed to fill that spot on the roster. Folston (pictured) played four years at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a defensive end and appeared in 41 games (five starts) and recorded 47 tackles, two sacks and a blocked punt.

Following the draft, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals but that team released him in May in favor of a veteran linebacker claimed off waivers.

Folston’s father, James Folston Sr., was a linebacker who played seven seasons in the NFL, the last two with the Cardinals.

The Titans added Williams, a starting linebacker at the University of Tennessee in 2014, during the first full week of training camp. In four seasons as a professional he has spent time with Miami, the N.Y. Jets and N.Y. Giants and has played in two regular season contests.

He played 11 snaps on defense in the preseason opener Thursday in Philadelphia and was credited with one tackle.

Linebacker Riley Bullough and tackle Cody Conway – both injured in the victory over the Eagles – were waived-injured Saturday.
