AFC vs. NFC Tracker: Surprising Results So Far Through 2 Weeks

Even though everyone talks about how the AFC is the better conference over the NFC by a wide margin, the results don't bare that out at all through the first two weeks of the NFL season. So far, NFC teams are a perfect 6-0 vs. the AFC.

NASHVILLE — One of the big NFL storylines all summer long was about how strong the AFC was, and that the conference was far superior to the NFC.

But through two weeks of the league season, you sure wouldn't know it. So far, there have been six interconference games — and NFC teams have won all six of them.

Even more surprising is that four of the NFC wins so far have come on the road. That's not easy to do, especially early in the season. The Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders both won on the road at underdogs.

Maybe this shouldn't come as too much as a surprise, though. The AFC won the series 35-28-1 in 2020, but lost by narrow margins the past two years. The AFC was 39-40-1 in 2021 and 39-41 in 2022.

This year, the Tennessee Titans' crossover division is the NFC South. They lost at New Orleans in Week 1, and will travel to Tampa Bay on Nov. 12. They'll play Atlanta and Carolina at home, and their added 17th game is at home with the Seattle Seahawks on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

It's such an interesting quirk that it's worth tracking all season long to see how quickly it all balances out. Here are the results so far, with a full schedule of interconference play:
