Another Supplemental Draft Receiver For Titans To Evaluate

NASHVILLE - The NFL recently reinstated the supplemental draft, which will take place on July 11. While we've previously written about one receiver that could intrigue the Tennessee Titans, another recent entrant could also draw some attention.
Former University of Tennessee receiver Malichi Wideman transferred to Jackson State before the 2021 college season. As a Tiger, he recorded 34 receptions, 540 receiving yards, and 12 receiving touchdowns in 2021. In 2022, Wideman collected 49 receiving yards and one touchdown in six games for head coach Deion Sanders's squad.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Wideman starred at Venice High School in Venice, Florida. He was a highly regarded two-sport athlete who was regarded as the No. 117 overall prospect and No. 22 wide receiver in the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite.
Wideman initially signed with the Volunteers before transferring to Jackson State, where he is also a member of their men's basketball team.
He is regarded as an excellent red-zone target with his size, who still has room to improve in other areas, as he has done during his time with the Tigers. He has shown excellent ability to locate and track the ball in the air, high-point it, and collect it in contested situations.

Considered an advanced route runner out of high school, Wideman has reportedly continued to improve that portion of his game and is thought to be able to move in an upward trajectory in that area as well.
As mentioned, he was a two-sport athlete in high school, starring on the basketball court, where he showcased impressive leaping ability, which helped him in contested situations where he usually wins jump ball situations.

There is a lot to like about Wideman, from his size to his leaping ability, and according to sources, as many as 17 NFL teams have already shown interest, including Houston, and New Orleans, who the Titans will face this season.
Sources also indicate, and then Tigers head coach Sanders confirmed that Wideman had been suspended during the 2022 season for academic shortcomings and, upon his return, was unable to remain eligible. He applied for and was accepted by the league for the supplemental draft.
