NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans lit the internet on fire yesterday when it was announced they had won the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes. While it is a huge move for the team, there is still a huge hole at right tackle with the suspension of starter Nicholas Petit-Frere.

Even before the suspension of Petit-Frere, it was my opinion the Titans needed to add more depth at offensive tackle. With the suspension, it is imperative. There is one free agent tackle who is far and away the best option on the market and that free agent tackle just expressed interest in joining the team.

Fant responded to a Titans fans and said "all they gotta do is call" in regards to the Titans contacting him about an opportunity. We can take from this that the Titans haven't called yet, but logically you would think the Titans would soon.

Fant has a ton of experience and played well in recent years. Fant started 14 games or more in two straight seasons for the New York Jets in 2020 and 2021. He played both on the right side and the left side.

Petit-Frere may only be suspended for six games, but Fant would provide value long after that. Fant could start for the first six games of the year. If he plays well, he can hold the starting role. If he does not play well enough, Petit-Frere gets his starting spot back for the seventh game.

Fant would then become the Titans primary backup at tackle. Giving them one of the best swing tackles in the NFL. Also, newly-signed Andre Dillard is expected to start at left tackle, but Dillard has yet to prove he is truly a starter in the NFL and if he fails to do so in Tennessee, Fant could slide in at left tackle as well.

Filling in for Petit-Frere for the first six games, being a very good backup tackle and being able to start on either side all give Fant tremendous value to the Titans. If the Titans were wise, they would pick up the phone and give Fant a call. He will be waiting for his to ring.
