NASHVILLE - It took until the early hours of Wednesday morning, but finally, the Metro Nashville City Council has approved the second reading of the proposed new downtown stadium for the Tennessee Titans.

In a 25-11 vote, not only did the proposal pass its second reading, but the amendment made during the April 4th meeting has been reversed.

Bob Mendes, who had led the opposition and was part of multiple new amendments, presented during the meeting, though all failed before the final vote was cast.

While the earlier amendment would have added an additional $3 per ticket to all events at the new facility, the new amended deal now includes additional Titans rent, which is the greater of $3 for a non-NFL event or 3%. It also eliminated additional costs for events such as the Music City Bowl, Tennessee State football, or SEC championship events.

The third and final reading is expected at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday.
