NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans have ended the 2023 offseason and now move into training camp. As we have seen Mike Vrabel do at this time each year, he named the Titans offseason award winner on both sides of the ball.

This year, on offense, Vrabel named quarterback Ryan Tannehill, tight end Thomas Odukoya, offensive lineman Corey Levin and gave a special mention to Malik Willis. On defense, Vrabel named defensive lineman Jayden Peevy, linebacker Jack Gibbens and edge rusher Arden Key.

Before we go any further we have to acknowledge that these awards have very rarely translated to on-field success. For example, last season some of the winners were Caleb Farley, Dillon Radunz, Dez Fitzpatrick and Tory Carter. All of them were either hurt or off the team by season's end.

With that being said though, this is an entirely new year and each player is certainly deserving of the honor after the hard work they have put in. Seeing Ryan Tannehill on the list is probably the most surprising as you wouldn't expect the starting quarterback to be one of the offseason's biggest grinders.

Regardless, Tannehill did win the award and at any moment possible during this offseason Vrabel has mentioned how Tannehill has been in the building since February trying to rehabilitate his ankle injury and learn every nook and cranny of the new offense. Quite the example to set from QB1.

Likewise, it is also surprising to see one of the offseason awards go to a free-agent signing in Arden Key, but it appears since Key signed in March he has been incredibly dedicated to ingratiating himself in all things Titans.

Levin is also a name to watch. Levin made three starts for the Titans last season and had some good moments. If current starting center Aaron Brewer does play up to par, Levin could get a real shot quickly.

Outside of Levin, we saw three young players get rewarded.

Odukoya has been mentioned earlier this offseason for his improvements after joining the team through the international pathway program before last season. Peevy will have a chance to carve out a role on the thin Titans' defensive line and Gibbens followed up on his rookie season with a strong offseason as he fights for a roster spot.

Again, these awards don't guarantee a good season from any of these players, but for different reasons, these are all players who should be happy about the example they have set during the offseason. Hopefully, they change the trend and turn this honor into a productive year.
