Teair Tart's Deal Helps Solidify Titans Defensive Line
NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans and nose tackle Teair Tart agreed on contract details on Monday, making Tart the final restricted free agent to come to terms.
According to multiple reports, including one from Adam Schefter, the deal is for $4.3 million and comes as the Titans begin their minicamp on Monday. Per Schefter, the deal was confirmed by Tart's agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Murtha.
Tart, an undrafted free agent from Florida International, signed with the Titans in 2020 and was waived during final roster cuts on September 5, 2020. He was signed to the team's practice squad the following day, where he worked until getting his opportunity to join the 53-man roster on December 7 of that year.
Following the 2021 season, Tart signed a one-year deal with the team that March and received a second-round tender following the 2022 season.
Though not under contract, Tart willingly signed a waiver protecting the team against his being injured so that he could participate in the team's recent OTAs.
For his career, Tart has accumulated 40 tackles, six pass deflections, and an interception in his reserve role as a valuable part of the Titans defensive line rotation.
Though Tart was a restricted free agent, finalizing this deal solidifies the defensive line for the Titans and will allow him to concentrate solely on his on-field performance. Though based on what we've seen of Tart in OTAs, his contract status was the least of his worries.
Since his arrival on the 53-man roster, Tart has been a force against the run, allowing added versatility along the front for the Titans.
