NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans probably expected a quiet six-week break until training camp, but after the suspension of starting right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere, the Titans will need to work hard now to find a solution to their newfound issue.

One way the Titans could go about addressing the Petit-Frere suspension is by adding a veteran from free agency. At this stage in the offseason process there aren't a ton of great options, but there are some names that could potentially make sense for the Titans.

George Fant - 30 years old

Fant dealt with a knee injury in 2022 that limited him to 8 games, but Fant started 29 games total in 2020 and 2021 combined. Not only did Fant start 29 games, but he played all of 2020 at right tackle and all of 2021 at left tackle, showcasing great versatility.

While Fant will be a few years older if he joins the Titans, he did play very well during those two years of being a starter with the New York Jets. In those two year combined, Fant only allowed four sacks and 51 pressures in over 1,100 pass blocking reps. The knee injury in 2022 led to some poor play, but if Fant is healthy, he could easily slide into the open right tackle spot and the Titans may not miss a beat.

Eric Fisher - 32 years old

Fisher wasn't on a team for most of the 2022 NFL season. He signed with the Miami Dolphins late in the season, but injury prevented him from making an appearance. Fisher was last seen as the starting left tackle for the Indianapolis Colts in 2021 when he played 15 games.

Fisher had a successful career in Kansas City before playing with the Colts in 2021, but it is obvious age has reduced his quality. In 2021, Fisher allowed seven sacks and 41 pressures while committing 8 penalties. He also has only played 1,057 snaps at right tackle in his career and none have come since 2015. It would be a risk for the Titans, but likely a better option than what is on the market.

Chris Hubbard - 32 years old

Another option that is long in the tooth, Hubbard is a tested veteran. Hubbard only played in four games last year for the Cleveland Browns, but his 49 games of starting experience are hard to find at this stage in the offseason.

Hubbard has played 2,967 snaps at right tackle and in the last three seasons where he saw more than 200 snaps, Hubbard had a pass blocking grade of 70 or higher, per Pro Football Focus. He may be at the end of his career, but Hubbard could make a ton of sense for the Titans as a replacement for Petit-Frere for six games.
