Report: Tennessee Titans Plan to Workout Former Steelers WR Martavis Bryant
The Tennessee Titans could use more talent overall, but wide receiver is certainly a position that could use reinforcements after Treylon Burks was injured late against the Steelers. Coincidentally, a former Steeler receiver may get a shot to help fill the void if Burks is out.
According to a report from Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, the Titans plan to workout Martavis Bryant. Bryant was suspended indefinitely by the NFL in 2018, but was reinstated this week by the NFL.
Bryant dealt with multiple suspensions for substance abuse in his first stint in the NFL. He missed an entire season in 2016 due to suspension and was suspended indefinitely for violating the terms of his previous reinstatement in 2017.
Bryant was drafted by the Steelers in 2014 before ultimately being traded to the Oakland Raiders in before the 2018 season. During the time he was on the field, the 6-foot-4, 210 pound former Clemson Tiger was productive.
Bryant played in 44 games, making 145 catches for 2,183 receiving yards with 17 touchdowns. While it has been nearly five years since Bryant played his last NFL game, he may still have some of the playmaking ability he showed then.
Mostly, because Bryant didn't end his football journey after the NFL suspended him. Bryant has played in Canadian Football League and the XFL during his hiatus from the NFL. Bryant caught 14 balls for 145 yards for the XFL's Vegas Vipers in 2022.
Bryant is set to workout with the Dallas Cowboys first, so there is a chance the Titans don't get the opportunity to see Bryant, but if they do, it will be interesting to see if Bryant has anything left in the tank and if he can use it to help the Titans right their season.
Bryant likely isn't an answer for the Titans, but they are smart to at least take a look. With rookie quarterback Will Levis now in the fold, every stone should turned to find him the help he will need to succeed.
