Tennessee Titans Roster Rundown: Tight End

Perhaps the easiest group to predict is the Titans tight end group, where the top four seem locked in entering training camp.

NASHVILLE - Our Tennessee Titans roster rundown continues as we move to the tight end position, where the roster seems all but set at this point, even though we haven't even gotten to the opening day of training camp.

The Players

Chig Okonkwo, Trevon Wesco, Josh Whyle, Kevin Rader, Justin Rigg, Alize Mack, Thomas Odukoya

Starters: Oknokwo is the unquestioned top tight-end target and will be the starter. Wesco was signed as a free agent to be the blocking tight end and could see starts depending on the formation the team opens with week to week.

Backups: Whyle, the rookie fifth-round pick, is in line to be the top backup and could see time on the field along with Okonkwo. At 6-foot-6 and 4.69 forty speed, Whyle could become a big part of this offense as he grows and gains experience this season.

Rader seems to be set as the fourth tight end, though the others, including Mack, who has an incredible athletic profile, could push him here.

Practice Squad: Odukoya, Rigg, and Mack are candidates to find a place here this season with Mack, who, with time and work, could turn his pathetic gifts into something special. The coaching staff likes both Odukoya and Rigg, so there could be some competition here.

In The End

The Titans have used multiple tight ends in recent years, and that could continue this time around as well. Still, with the continued growth of Okonkwo, and the addition of Whyle, the Titans have a solid duo of pass catchers and a devastating type of blocker in Wesco, who is underrated as a pass catcher. Rader is the combo tight end, who can block, and add some occasional catches to the mix.
