NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans have made it to July and that means training camp is right around the corner. The team should be looking to put finishing touches on its roster before camp kicks off and according to Pro Football Focus, signing linebacker Kyle Van Noy could be that final move.

Brad Spielberger of PFF recently released a list of moves each team should make before camp starts and signing free agent Van Noy was the move for the Titans. The Titans made quite a few linebacker signings in free agency, but Van Noy could be a great fit.

Van Noy is a versatile veteran who can add value to the team as an off-ball linebacker and as a pass rusher. Van Noy has had at least five sacks in five of his last six seasons and ten sacks combined in the past two years. He would combine with Harold Landry, Arden Key and Rashad Weaver to make a nice group of edge rushers.

Van Noy could also add depth to the off-ball linebacker spot too. The Titans added Azeez Al-Shaair, Luke Gifford and Ben Niemann in free agency to go along with folks already on the roster like Monty Rice, Jack Gibbens and Chance Campbell, but none of those names are proven commodities, so the Titans could desire some addition veteran depth.

Here is a snippet of what Spielberger had to say about the pairing of the Titans and Van Noy:

"The Titans moved on from Bud Dupree this offseason and lost DeMarcus Walker to free agency, and while they added Arden Key, he figures to kick inside on pass-rushing downs and brings a very different skill set than Van Noy. The veteran provides pass-rush ability off the edge and can play some off-ball linebacker, which isn’t a strong suit of the current Titans roster."

Spielberger is correct that the Titans don't have a lot of options on the roster that can provide the versatility that Van Noy does, but they do have at least one name who can, Harold Landry.

Landry has unlocked the Titans defense in recent years with his versatility, so having Van Noy as a direct backup to Landry gives the Titans a ton of freedom to rest Landry more in game as he recovers from an ACL injury.

Again, the Titans made more signings at linebacker and edge than any other positions, so they may believe they have enough at those spots now, but if they agree they need more, Van Noy makes a lot of sense.
