NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans announced they have agreed to terms on a contract with rookie third-round draft pick Tulane running back Tyjae Spears.

The Titans shared the following in a press release announcing the agreement late Thursday afternoon.

"Spears, who was drafted in the third round with the 81st overall selection, played in 33 games in four seasons at Tulane and finished his career with 427 carries for 2,910 yards and 31 rushing touchdowns."

"Additionally, the 5-foot-10-inch, 200-pounder snared 48 passes for 564 yards with three touchdowns out of the backfield. As a senior in 2022, the Ponchatoula, La., native registered career-highs with 1,581 rushing yards and 19 rushing scores while earning AAC Offensive Player of the Year honors."

"Spears ended the 2022 season with eight consecutive 100-yard rushing performances, including a season-high 205 rushing yards and four touchdowns in his final game for Tulane in the Cotton Bowl against the University of Southern California."

Since arriving at the rookie minicamp, Spears has been impressive in his play, including an impressive diving catch, with a full extension on Tuesday from quarterback Ryan Tannehill, during the team portion of OTAs.

Despite the concerns that arose following his selection, Spears has repeatedly showcased his speed, quick-cutting ability, and excellent lateral movement.

While there might be concerns about his knee, Spears was insistent when asked, stating, "I am healthy."

Based on what he has shown through two practices open to the media, any concerns as to his knee have been put to rest from a physical standpoint at this time, and he looks poised to be a solid contributor for the coming season.
