NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans receive mostly mixed reviews if you ask anyone in the football ecosystem what their ceiling as a team is. From Titans fans, to causal observers to media, everyone has a take and while they differ, you aren't likely to hear someone call the Titans a Super Bowl contender.

The truth is though, none of those opinions matter when it comes to the Titans' decision making as a team. The only opinions that matter are those of the people in the building. Obviously, Mike Vrabel and Ran Carthon are at the top of that list.

This truth is what we need to remember when the Titans make moves that some don't seem to agree with. Recently, the pursuit of DeAndre Hopkins is an example. Some don't believe the Titans are good enough as a team as it stands for the Hopkins addition to make a serious impact on their ceiling.

Those people may be right, but certainly you won't find agreement from Mike Vrabel. There is no way at this juncture that Vrabel thinks he can't lead this team to a championship with what they have. It just isn't in his DNA to think otherwise.

Hopkins certainly helps the Titans in a big way. Wide receiver is not only a weakness, but it may be the worst group in the entire NFL. With Hopkins, the Titans can absolutely take back the AFC South and if they do that, they are in the tournament.

Vrabel has said before that once you get in the tournament anything can happen. That has been proven true throughout NFL history as we have seen lower seeds make a run to the title before or team's that aren't considered the favorite end up on top.

While it would still be a surprise to see the Titans reach those height, the point is, Vrabel is going to try. So, while a move to sign Hopkins may not make sense for some, for Vrabel, it makes all the sense in the world.
