NASHVILLE — Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is expected to interview on Friday for the Tennessee Titans coaching job, per reports.

Callahan, who just completed his fifth season with Cincinnati, is in high demand. Along with the Titans, the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Atlanta Falcons also have submitted requests to interview the Bengals assistant.

Callahan, 39, is credited with designing an offense that supported quarterback Jake Browning when Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury. In addition, Callahan worked with Matt Stafford, the present quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams, when they were both with the Detroit Lions.

Callahan, the son of former NFL head coach Bill Callahan, has established a solid reputation in the NFL for developing quarterbacks. That skill set could be crucial for the Titans, who are counting on Will Levis as their quarterback going forward.

The leadership of the Titans interviewing a coach like Callahan seems to align with the team owner's vision of a collaborative environment. A report in the Athletic said that one reason for Mike Vrabel's firing was his desire for more control of the roster. Owner Amy Adams Strunk disagreed.

So, it's unsurprising that there are two longtime coaches who reportedly are not being considered for the Titans job: Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and six-time Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick.

Harbaugh won his first national title on Monday, but there's a possibility he will consider taking an NFL job. Belichick is on the job market after he and the New England Patriots agreed to end their 24-year relationship.

The Titans have requested interviews with at least nine coaches: Callahan, the Las Vegas Raiders' Antonio Pierce, the Detroit Lions' Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, the New York Giants' Mike Kafka, the Baltimore Ravens' Mike Macdonald, the Dallas Cowboys' Dan Quinn, the Houston Texans' Bobby Slowik, and the Philadelphia Eagles' Brian Johnson.
