Titans Reportedly Interested In Former Pro-Bowl Linebacker
NASHVILLE - According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson of Houston televisions station KPRC2, the Tennessee Titans have a "strong interest" in a potential free agency deal with Pro-Bowl linebacker Denzel Perryman.
A former second-round draft pick by the San Diego/LA Chargers from the University of Miami, Perryman is a solid 5'11" and 240lb powerful run and hit linebacker with a career-high 154 tackles in 2021 and was voted to the Pro Bowl as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Perryman started 11 of the 12 games he participated in last season before a torn labrum sidelined him. While on the field, Perryman was productive, managing 83 tackles, 14 for losses, five quarterback hits, one sack, and two interceptions.
While the Titans have needs at multiple positions, inside linebacker is near the top.
Currently, the Titans have Monti Rice, Jack Gibbens, and Chase Cambell, along with the recently added free agent Azeez Al-Shaair, who comes to Nashville from a reserve role with the San Francisco 49ers.
Adding a player of Perryman's caliber would provide a veteran leader inside that position group and on the field while adding another big-time hitter for the Titans in the middle of their defense.
Per Wilson, Perryman is scheduled to be in Houston and meet with the Texans and their new head coach Demeco Ryans, on Thursday.
There has been no report of a scheduled visit to the Titans as of this writing.
