Treylon Burks Named as Titans 'Offensive X-Factor' for 2023 Season

The Tennessee Titans will be relying heavily on the development of second-year receiver Treylon Burks this season, so it was no surprise he was named as the team's "Offensive X-Factor" by CBS Sports.

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans' wide receiver room has been the target of much criticism throughout the summer. With the lack of talent at the position the Titans will need a Herculean effort from second-year player Treylon Burks, which is why he was named as the "Offensive X-Factor" by CBS Sports.

Burks' expectations should be high after he was selected in the first round in 2022. Recently we have seen quite a few early-round wide receivers come in and make an instant impact, so it is not asking too much for Burks to take a big jump from what he produced his rookie season.

Burks dealt with injuries or conditioning issues from start to finish in 2022. He only played in 11 games while catching 33 passes for 444 yards and only one touchdown. The Titans will likely need those numbers to more than double in 2023 if they hope to have consistent success on offense.

Here is what the creator of the list, Jared Dubin, had to say about the selection of Burks as the Titans' "Offensive X-Factor."

"Tennessee's offense is based almost entirely around Derrick Henry. But the big man is 29 years old now, and turning 30 late in this season. He has 300-plus carries in three of the last four years, including 349 last year. After hitting 5.1 and 5.4 yards per carry in 2019 and 2020, respectively, he's been at 4.3 and 4.4 per carry the past two years. The Titans need a quality passing-game option to emerge, and Burks is their best shot at that happening."

For better or worse, Burks will always be linked with ex-Titan A.J. Brown. Ever since the trade went down that basically put Burks into Brown's role, the comparison has been hard to avoid. The Titans' offense will need Burks to replicate some of that if they hope to replicate the success they had a few seasons ago. Sounds like the X-Factor.
