Vrabel: 'Kevin (Byard) Is A Valuable, Valuable Member' of the Titans
NASHVILLE — There is no doubt that Kevin Byard is one of the top safeties in the NFL, and one of, if not the most prominent defensive leader for the Tennessee Titans, both on and off the field.
So as rumors persist around the Titans as a whole, and Byard in particular, Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel shared a thought with reporters during his media session on Monday at the league's owner's meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
"Kevin's under contract. Kevin's a valuable, valuable member of our football team," said Vrabel, in part of his many comments during his time with the media.
Vrabel went on to talk about what makes Byard such a valuable part of the Titans.
"His durability and his leadership, so we'll see where things go, but as of now, there's nothing to reports," added Vrabel. "Communication has been really good. I tried to make a great connection with him as a player and a captain on our team for five years."
As for the rumors that Byard asked to be traded, Vrabel had this to say.
"Those are conversations that happened between Kevin and his agent, and Ran (Carthon), and myself, and we're trying to find ways to improve our football team."
Despite those words, the possibility of a move being made with Byard remains, and there are no guarantees that the Por-Bowl safety won't be traded if someone approaches the Titans with the right offer.
For now, Byard remains a valuable part of the Titan's roster, but will someone offer them enough value to make them comfortable parting with their captain and leader?
That's the million-dollar question, and Titans fans anxiously await to find out.
