Titans Sign DE Tanoh Kpassagnon and LB Milo Eifler: What Fans Need to Know

In this story:
Last week, the Tennessee Titans' already down-and-out secondary took another hit when safety Nazeeh Johnson was hit with a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's Performance-Enhancing Substances Policy. Johnson was most likely set to contribute in a depth role, but the Titans have still been forced to react to this change.
As a result, Tennessee placed Johnson on Reserve/Injured, releasing tight end Matt Lauter in the process to clear the way for two new pickups. Jim Wyatt reported that the Titans have signed defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon and linebacker Milo Eifler on Friday.
The dual-signing comes right on the edge of Tennessee's joint practice with the Seattle Seahawks today, and just two days before the team face off on Sunday. Robert Saleh's defense loses one piece and gains two just over a week out from the roster-cut deadline.

Everything Titans Fans Need to Know About New Additions
Eifler's case is a little less complex than Kpassagnon, so we'll start there. The 28-year old linebacker's last appearance in the regular season came all the way back in 2022, where he competed in 10 games with the Washington Commanders. Eifler totaled four sacks that season.
Before being released by the Arizona Cardinals last May, Eifler appeared in brief stints with the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and Atlanta Falcons, too. He's a real journeyman at the LB position, and will most likely end up in a short-term depth role for Tennessee.

Kpassagnon, on the other hand, could have an outside shot at some staying power in Nashville.
Kpassagnon May Make a Case For a Roster Spot
Since beginning his career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, Kpassagnon has competed in every single regular season since, to varying degrees. He's broken the three-sack mark three times, most recently notching 3.5 with the New Orleans Saints in 2023.
After suffering a torn Achilles tendon in May of 2024, Kpassagnon's on-field presence seriously dwindled. He played in just four games with the Chicago Bears last season, logging five total tackles and one sack.
At 32 years old, the ceiling is only so high for Kpassagnon from here on out. But with a little time left to test the waters in the preseason, his signing makes sense if he were to stick around on a smaller deal. He clearly isn't out of gas just yet and is worth keeping a thumb on as the offseason winds down.
