NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans enter the next phase of the Brian Callahan era with offseason workouts beginning April 8 at the Ascension Saint Thomas practice facility.

Offseason programs typically last nine weeks — from April to mid-June — but the NFL allows an extra week for teams with new coaches. The workouts are voluntary — it's uncertain if new Titans such as L'Jarius Sneed will attend — and contact (e.g. "live blocking) is prohibited.

Each phase has specific rules and regulations for players and coaches to follow.

During the first two weeks, or Phase 1, the players participate in conditioning sessions and classroom activities. Only strength and conditioning coaches are allowed on the field.

Quarterbacks can throw to wide receivers, so Titans quarterback Will Levis can train with new receiver Calvin Ridley and incumbent DeAndre Hopkins if the players choose to attend.

In Phase 2, which lasts three weeks, the rules are the same, but all coaches are allowed on the field.

Phase 3 gets busy:

  • 4 weeks total
  • 3 weeks for 10 total OTAs (organized team activities)
  • A maximum of 3 OTAs each week for the first 2 weeks
  • A maximum of 4 OTAs for the 3rd or 4th week
  • One week for minicamp
  • No pads except protective knee and elbow pads; helmets are permitted
  • No live contact
  • 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills will be permitted, provided no live contact takes place

Phase 3 leads into minicamp, which allows two practices a day Tuesday through Thursday.
