After 16 seasons, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is retiring from the NFL. The news has rehashed the debate of whether or not Eli Manning is a hall of famer. There are certainly arguments to be made on both sides. Eli completed two of the most impressive playoff runs with Super Bowl victories over the greatest coach and quarterback ever, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Manning is also seventh all time in passing yards and passing touchdowns. However, it’s a fair critique to say Manning was never truly elite as he played and that his numbers were accrued because of his longevity. SI’s Robin Lundberg states both sides of the argument but makes the claim his greatest achievements alone should make Manning’s future in the NFL Hall of Fame be a no brainer.
