Former Cincinnati Bengals Cornerback Ken Riley Dies at Age 72

The Bengals all-time leader in interceptions died. Ken Riley played with the Cincinnati Bengals from 1969-1983 and had 65 career interceptions landing him as fifth on the list of all-time interceptions in the NFL. He was selected in the sixth round of the 1969 NFL Draft. The cause of his death has not been released.

Former Bengals defensive back Ken Riley has died at the age of 72. A cause of death was not released. Riley was a standout for the Bengals from 1969-1983, tallying 65 career interceptions for 596 yards and five touchdowns -- all franchise records.
The interceptions also rank fifth in NFL history.Before his NFL career, Riley was a four year starter at quarterback at Florida A&M… when the Bengals selected him in the sixth round of the 1969 NFL draft, the team, under coach Paul Brown decided to convert him to cornerback.
At the time, black starting quarterbacks in the NFL were all but unheard of.Riley never made it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he is in the Florida A&M and Black College Football halls of fame.
