Veteran Running Back Adrian Peterson to Sign with the Detroit Lions for the 2020 NFL Season

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Peterson is signing a one-year, $1.05 million dollar contract that includes incentives

The Detroit Lions are signing running back Adrian Peterson to a one-year contract just days after he was released by Washington.

The 35 year old rushed for 898 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Washington Football Team in 2019.

And aside from being a talented running back the Lions are hopeful that his veteran experience will also add value to the team.

Sports Illustrated’s AllLions reported that Peterson will help provide great mentorship to Kerryon Johnson and D'Andre Swift—two runners that the organization has high hopes for and could be stars themselves one day at the position.

Peterson told NFL reporter Josina Anderson on Sunday saying, "They're giving me an opportunity to play, I know Coach Bevell from my days in Minnesota. Ultimately I feel comfortable going there and helping them to get better."

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Peterson is signing a one-year, $1.05 million dollar contract that includes incentives.
