NFL Must Make Reception Rule Simpler

NFL referees head to the sidelines far too many times to review whether a pass is completed or not.

The NFL reception rules are a constant reminder of how the league tends to overcomplicate something that should be very simple. Former NFL quarterback and league MVP Joe Theismann says if the ball touches the ground, it’s incomplete, if it doesn’t, then it’s ruled as a catch. Theismann called out the rules committee and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to make this rule simpler as it would help speed up and simplify the game.
