Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins is a potential first round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and his performance at the NFL combine should have helped his case. However, Wiggins injured himself while participating in the 40-yard dash on Friday, ending his combine early.
Wiggins ran an official 4.28 in the 40-yard dash, which was the best time among players to run the event so far. Still, the NFL Network broadcast reported that Wiggins felt a “pop” in his groin, and went to the training room for further evaluation.
NFL Network’s Stacey Dales reports that Wiggins said the injury is a hip flexor, which means he is done doing events at the combine but should be O.K. to participate in Clemson’s Pro Day.
