Lions vs. Vikings Prediction for Christmas Eve Sunday, 12/24

The 10-4 Lions are bringing their top-five offense on Sunday in an effort to clinch the division, but they’ve been rather inconsistent as a team the last few weeks. They’re just 2-2 in their last four games and have really struggled defensively. As for the 7-7 Vikings, they too have had a rough go of things recently with just a 1-3 record over their last four games. Because of these aspects, our Lions vs. Vikings prediction will actually focus on the total.

Before Detroit only let up 17 points against the Broncos last week, they had previously given up 26+ points in five consecutive contests. Until we see their defense consistently stiff opponents like they did the Broncos, it’s too hard to trust them to repeat last week’s performance. Minnesota, meanwhile, followed up their phenomenal showing of holding the Raiders scoreless by surrendering 27 points to backup QB Jake Browning and the Bengals.

Not only is it disappointing to see the Vikings not perform against an offense like that, but none of their last handful of opponents have boasted as potent of an offense as Detroit. Both teams should be able to move the ball up and down the field rather easily in this one, which has been a trend in Lions games this season (9-5 O/U record, over has been the result in five of past six). Take the over 47 (-110 at FanDuel) with confidence.

Lions vs. Vikings Player Props & Free Picks Featuring Jameson Williams & Jordan Addison

As for our Lions vs. Vikings player props, they sort of coincide with our game pick above. On the Detroit side of things, look for Jameson Williams to continue to be more involved. He had a career-high seven targets last week en route to a productive four catch, 47 yard performance and it’s clear they’re trying to get him more involved. Facing a Minnesota defense that’s average-at-best against the pass, we like Williams to go over 25.5 receiving yards (-114 at FanDuel) in this one.

Conversely, we also like one of the Minnesota receivers to have a big day, but not Justin Jefferson. Jordan Addison has been a force in his rookie season and is coming off one of the best outings of his young career (six catches, 111 yards, two touchdowns). Detroit’s secondary has continued to look shaky week in and week out, so he could really thrive in this one, especially with more attention on Jefferson. Take Addison to finish with over 46.5 receiving yards (-114 at FanDuel) for the sixth time in seven home games this season.
