Adam Thielen Injured On First Half Touchdown Reception, OUT for Remainder of Game
A sensational play by the Vikings cost them one of their best players.
With 5:14 left in the first quarter, Kirk Cousins rolled to his left and threw a perfect pass to Adam Thielen in the back of the end zone for a touchdown to tie the game at 7.
Unfortunately, Thielen was injured on the play. He did not get up and celebrate, remaining on the ground and holding his right hamstring.
Thielen did not return for the rest of the first half, and his return was listed as questionable. He has been downgraded to OUT for the rest of the game, the Vikings announced.
Now, focus turns to Thielen's availability for upcoming games. The Vikings have a short week before hosting the Redskins on Thursday Night Football.
In his place, rookie Bisi Johnson is running as the second receiver. He caught a 1-yard touchdown pass, the first TD of his career.
Cousins finished the half 11 of 16 for 153 yards and 2 TDs. Dalvin Cook added 76 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Detroit's Marvin Jones has three touchdown catches.
The Vikings and Lions are tied at 21 entering the third quarter.
