Ex-Vikings RB Dalvin Cook Finding New Life With Ravens

Cook and the Ravens are one win away from a Super Bowl appearance.

It's been a frustrating year for Dalvin Cook, but it's ending on a high note. The former Vikings star made his Ravens debut in Saturday's divisional round victory over the Texans and had his longest play of the season on his very first touch in a Baltimore uniform. Now he and his new teammates are one win away from a Super Bowl appearance.

Cook signed with the Jets last offseason after a strong six-year run in Minnesota, which included Pro Bowl appearances and more than 1,300 yards from scrimmage in each of the last four seasons. His time in New York was highly disappointing, with less than 300 total yards and a role that faded into basically nothing over time. The Jets released him towards the end of the regular season and he signed with the Ravens' practice squad, then got bumped to the 53-man roster this past week.

Serving as the third-string running back behind Gus Edwards and Justice Hill on the AFC's top seed, Cook got his first carry with the Ravens up two scores in the fourth quarter against Houston. He burst for 19 yards — more than he gained on any of his 82 touches with the Jets.

Cook finished with eight carries for 23 yards in mostly mop-up duty, though he didn't have much room to run late when the Texans knew what was coming.

The Ravens will host either the Bills or Chiefs next weekend in the AFC championship game. Edwards and Hill are still the top two backs in Baltimore, but it's possible Cook — who looks revitalized in his new home — will have a role in that game as well.
