Jordan Addison Dealing With Minor Injury, Vikings Being Overly Cautious

The Vikings' first-round pick didn't participate in OTAs this week or last week.

Vikings first-round pick Jordan Addison is being held out of OTAs as he recovers from a minor injury, but head coach Kevin O'Connell says it isn't anything he's concerned about.

"We're being overly cautious with him right now," O'Connell said. "Just something that popped up towards the tail end of rookie minicamp, nothing serious at all. As far as I'm concerned, it's kind of a day-to-day thing that we're just working through. This time of year, it's better to be safe with things, knowing that training camp's really not all that far away. To give him the best possible chance to impact our team like I think he will, that's the plan we're going with."

Addison was out there during rookie minicamp at the beginning of May and looked as advertised, displaying excellent route-running and hands. But apparently, a minor injury popped up that has kept him out of OTA practices so far. Right now, O'Connell says the focus for Addison is on mastering the mental side of things before he returns to action.

"My big thing with him right now is there's so much learning going on," O'Connell said. "We've got big plans for him, obviously, but want to make sure mentally he's in a great space and physically at his best when we allow him to truly go out there and turn it loose."

Injuries a potential concern with Addison, who is very undersized at 5'11", 171 pounds. He missed three games last season at USC due to a left ankle injury. However, it doesn't sound like this current issue is at all serious, so we should expect to see Addison back on the field soon.
