Kirk Cousins Exits Vikings-Packers With 'Ankle' Injury That Looks Like Torn Achilles

Cousins may have suffered a serious injury at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
In this story:

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins exited Sunday's game against the Packers at Lambeau Field and was quickly ruled out with what the team is calling an ankle injury.

Upon replay, it was a non-contact injury for Cousins — and it sure looks like you can see his Achilles pop.

If it is, in fact, an Achilles tear for Cousins, he'll be out for the remainder of the season. That's the kind of injury that would completely change the trajectory of the year for the Vikings.

Cousins was attempting to step up in the pocket on a third and long in the fourth quarter. After being tackled, he hobbled off the field without putting any weight on his right leg. He was evaluated in the medical tent and then carted off the field.

An Achilles tear would be a devastating injury for the 35-year-old Cousins, who has been incredibly durable throughout his career. He never misses any time due to injury. If this is an Achilles, Cousins' future would suddenly become a lot more uncertain. He's set to hit free agency after this season.

Is it possible we just saw Cousins' last game in a Vikings uniform?

We'll know more about the injury when the team evaluates him after the game. For now, it doesn't look good.

The Vikings led the Packers 24-10 at the time of Cousins' injury. Rookie Jaren Hall came in at quarterback for Minnesota.
