Four months after tearing his right Achilles tendon at Lambeau Field, Kirk Cousins appears to be making excellent progress in his recovery. The Vikings quarterback and soon-to-be highly sought-after free agent posted a pair of short videos on Monday that show him dropping back on a tennis court somewhere, planting on that right leg, and throwing the football. He looks smooth doing it, too.

"Almost 4 months in now…encouraged by the progress!" Cousins wrote. "Grateful tor all the help around us."

The timing of Cousins' post might be coincidental, but it might not be. The NFL scouting combine takes place this week, which means teams and agents will be descending upon Indianapolis and having conversations about free agency, even if those technically aren't allowed until the legal tampering window opens on March 11th. Cousins' Vikings contract is set to officially void on March 13th, so this isn't a bad time for him to provide some visual evidence that his injury isn't going to hamper him in 2024.

These videos back up a few recent reports that Cousins has been "ahead of schedule" in his Achilles recovery, which isn't surprising when you consider how meticulous he is about his training and body work. He has said that he hopes to be ready to participate in OTAs in May, so there's no reason to believe he won't be good to go for training camp and the start of the regular season.

The big question, of course, is which team he'll be playing for this fall. Cousins has said he wants to return to the Vikings and the Vikings have said they want him back, but it'll all come down to the details. Recent buzz has suggested Cousins wants another fully guaranteed deal (for at least three years) and Minnesota doesn't want to do that. The closer free agency gets, the more likely it seems that Cousins hits the open market and gets a massive contract to join a new team for the first time in six years. But we'll see.
