The third round of the 2023 NFL Draft is underway on Friday night. The Vikings hold the No. 87 overall pick, though they could always trade up or down if they see fit based on how things unfold.

Minnesota didn't have a second-round pick due to the T.J. Hockenson trade. Plenty of talented players were selected in the third round, but there are still a ton of intriguing prospects on the board.

Defense would be a logical focus for the Vikings with this pick after they selected USC WR Jordan Addison in the first round. Minnesota had an abysmal defense last season and could use more talent for new coordinator Brian Flores. Then again, who knows? A running back could be a sneaky possibility, as the Vikings will likely trade Dalvin Cook at some point.

As the Vikings' pick approaches, here are some available defensive players who could make sense for Minnesota.

Update: the Vikings traded the 87th pick to the 49ers for picks 102 (last pick in the third round), 164 (fifth round), and 222 (seventh).

Update No. 2: The Vikings selected USC CB Mekhi Blackmon with pick 102.
