Two Changes in Kwesi Adofo-Mensah's Vikings Front Office
Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has shaken up the team's front office a bit this month, following his second NFL Draft since being hired in January 2022.
Minnesota has parted ways with director of football quantitative methods/pro scout Scott Kuhn, according to ESPN's Seth Walder. Kuhn joined the Vikings as a scout in 2007, when he came over from the Dolphins alongside Rick Spielman. In 2016, he was named the team's director of analytics. Kuhn was retained when Adofo-Mensah took over for Spielman, but now his Vikings tenure has come to an end after 16 years.
Kuhn was once the leader of a two-person analytics department in the Vikings' front office. With a former analytics staffer in Adofo-Mensah now in the GM role, the Vikings have numerous analytics-related employees working in their front office.
One other change, per Neil Stratton, is that former Vikings director of pro personnel Chris Blanco has joined the Texans' front office in an undisclosed role. Prior to joining the Vikings in 2021, Blanco had been a pro scout with the Texans since 2012. Blanco, who participated in the NFL's 2022 front office accelerator program, has a JD from Iowa Law.
It'll be interesting to see if the Vikings hire externally or promote internally to replace Kuhn and Blanco. These are two more examples of Adofo-Mensah building the franchise's front office in his vision.
