Vikings Injury Updates: Marcus Davenport, Ezra Cleveland Leave Early

Kevin O'Connell provided some early updates on two Vikings starters who got hurt in Chicago.

Vikings outside linebacker Marcus Davenport and left guard Ezra Cleveland left Sunday's win over the Bears early due to injuries.

Davenport went out with an ankle injury early in the second quarter. He hopped off the field on one foot, spent some time in the medical tent, and was eventually taken to the locker room on the cart.

Notably, it's not the same ankle that kept Davenport from playing much or at all in the first three games of the season.

"Opposite ankle," Kevin O'Connell said after the game. "Don't have a lot of detail on that right now. We'll get him as much treatment as we can. We'll try to use the extra day (the Vikings play eight days from now on Monday Night Football) to see if we can turn him over."

Speculatively, the injury seemed significant enough that Davenport's status for the Week 7 game against the 49ers is very much up in the air. The Vikings will hope it's a short-term issue and not something that will require a stint on injured reserve. Without Davenport, Brian Flores' defense leaned more heavily on D.J. Wonnum and Pat Jones II at OLB.

Cleveland appeared to suffer a foot injury early in the fourth quarter. He was replaced at LG by Dalton Risner for the Vikings' last two offensive possessions.

"I think it's a mid-foot kind of thing, whether it's a sprain or a bruise," O'Connell said. "It'll have to be evaluated as well."

Cleveland was seen outside of the locker room after the game, limping into an X-ray room inside Soldier Field. If he can't play against San Francisco, Risner would presumably make his first start as a Viking.
