Vikings Training Camp Recap, Day 3: Justin Jefferson Dazzles in Red Zone

Jefferson's leaping touchdown catch over Byron Murphy Jr. was the highlight of Friday's practice.

There isn't a whole lot to report from Friday's Vikings training camp practice, as the team did a 7-on-7 red zone period and then spent the rest of the afternoon conducting a walkthrough.

Does that mean we're not going to recap everything that happened in that red zone period? Absolutely not. Let's do it.

• The highlight of the day was Justin Jefferson elevating over Byron Murphy Jr. for a sick touchdown catch in the back corner of the end zone. Murphy was in good position, but it was a perfect throw from Cousins and a highly impressive catch from the NFL's reigning offensive player of the year. He seemed to float through the air before coming down with the grab. Getting reps against Jefferson throughout camp should be great for Murphy.
• On the first play of the period, Kirk Cousins fired a laser into a tight window to tight end Johnny Mundt, who made a difficult leaning catch away from his body. Cousins roared in celebration and Jefferson was pumped, yelling "good s*** Johnny!" Mundt is now the Vikings' No. 3 tight end with the addition of Josh Oliver, but he's still a capable player in his own right.
• Each of the Vikings' top three cornerbacks had a pass breakup during the session. That's Murphy, Akayleb Evans, and Joejuan Williams. The offense is at an advantage in 7-on-7s, so it was notable to see a few PBUs by the first-team defense.
• Also with the 1s, K.J. Osborn had a nice toe-drag sideline touchdown and Trishton Jackson caught a TD pass on one of his reps. Still no Jalen Nailor at practice today.
• With the second (and third) stringers, Nick Mullens fired touchdown passes to Nick Muse, Jalen Reagor, and Lucky Jackson.

Also notable on Friday was Cris Carter's presence at practice. The Hall of Fame receiver and legendary former Viking spent some time talking with Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and other current wideouts.

That's all I've got for today. Saturday's practice will be the first with fans in attendance at TCO Performance Center.
