Vikings UDFA Profile: Marshall LB Abraham Beauplan
Over the next couple weeks, Inside the Vikings will be taking a look at all 15 members of Minnesota's 2023 undrafted free agent class.
Vikings UDFA profile: Marshall LB Abraham Beauplan
- Size: 5'11", 241
- RAS: 4.52
- 2022 stats: 66 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 1 sack, 3 PD, 1 INT, 1 FF
Abraham Beauplan took the JuCo route out of high school, starring at Navarro College in Texas for two seasons and then choosing Marshall over a few Power 5 offers. He had 5.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles in his first year at the FBS level in 2020, then broke out in 2021 with 110 tackles, 11 TFL, 2.5 sacks, and another forced fumble.
Last season, Beauplan's numbers dipped slightly in one fewer game, but he recorded the first three pass breakups and the first interception of his Marshall career.
Athletically, Beauplan lacks ideal height at 5'11" and had poor agility scores, but he's a strong, stocky, explosive player at inside linebacker. He made Bruce Feldman's Freaks List prior to the 2022 season after apparently vertical-jumping 37 inches, squatting 565 pounds and benching 385 last offseason. He didn't run the 40 at Marshall's pro day but has apparently run a 4.59 before, which would be a great time for a linebacker.
Beauplan has the build, instincts, and quickness to make plays as a downhill run defender. His lack of agility makes pass coverage in space more of a question mark. Like any other undrafted rookie, he'll need to make his mark on special teams to stick around with the Vikings.
