Red Wings C Pavel Datsyuk expected to make season debut Tuesday
Pavel Datsyuk will make his season debut Tuesday night when the Detroit Red Wings visit the Montreal Canadiens, the team announced.
Datsyuk, 36, has been sidelined with a separated shoulder, which he sustained during training camp on Sept. 22.
The Red Wings have gone 3-1-1 in their first five games without Datsyuk, but they have struggled on the power play, converting just two of 21 chances so far.
Datsyuk was limited to 45 games due to injuries last season, finishing with 17 goals and 37 points. The Red Wings made the playoffs for the 23rd-straight season, ultimately falling in the first round to the Boston Bruins.
Following its game in Montreal, Detroit hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
Datsyuk has scored 272 goals and logged 804 points in his career.
