Watch: Flames score full-ice own goal on delayed penalty vs. Canucks

Delayed penalties are generally beneficial to the team about to get the power play -- unless said team screws up royally.

The Calgary Flames did just that in their game against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.

After Canucks defenseman Lucas Sbisa was whistled for tripping Calgary's Joe Colborne in Vancouver's zone, the Flames pulled goalie Jonas Hiller to get an extra skater on the ice. In the midst of trying to keep possession of the puck in the Vancouver end, Mason Raymond missed a pass from Dennis Wideman along the boards and ... well ... let's just say the Canucks got the better end of the result.

The goal, the first of the game, was credited to Canucks defenseman Yannick Weber, but that's just for appearances. This one's all on the Flames.

Besides being highly embarrassing, the play ended up costing Calgary the game -- the Canucks went on to win the game by just one goal, prevailing 3-2 in overtime.
