NHL veteran Todd Bertuzzi injured his knee during a comeback attempt with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL, according to Ian Mendes of TSN 1200 Ottawa.

Bertuzzi, 39, joined the Ottawa Senators' AHL affiliate last week. He reportedly suffered a knee injury during Saturday night's 5-1 loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and did not play in Sunday's game against the Springfield Falcons.

Bertuzzi has not scored a point in either of his two appearances.

He played the last five seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. In 59 games last season, he had nine goals and seven assists.

During his 18-year career, he has played for the Islanders, Canucks, Panthers, Ducks and Flames.
