Penguins place Evgeni Malkin on injured reserve
The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward Evgeni Malkinon injured reserve due to his lower-body injury.
Malkin missed this weekend's All-Star activities as a result of the injury.
"He won't be ready to play right after the break," Penguins GM Jim Rutherford told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Reviewlast Thursday. "It's probably an injury that will take a little time to heal."
Teammate Sidney Crosby is also injured. The Penguins said last Thursday that Crosby has a lower-body injury that will take about a week to heal.

As a result, the Penguins called up four players from their AHL affiliate on Monday.
Pittsburgh is 26-12-8 this season and in second place in the Metropolitan Division with 60 points.
