David Clarkson wasn't feeling the love against the Montreal Canadians on Saturday night. After picking two fights and delivering a nasty hit against the rival Habs, the Maple Leafs forward was booted 2:31 into the second period. Don't be surprised if a suspension follows.

The Leafs' bruiser got off to a hot start by picking a fight with the Canadiens' Brandon Prust minutes into the contest. Clarkson sat for five minutes for the fight and another two for unsportsmanlike conduct.

He found himself back in trouble just minutes later. Clarkson delivered a brutal and potentially suspension-worthy hit against Canadiens defenseman Sergei Gonchar, slamming him into the boards while the Habs' defenseman had his back turned.

Nathan Beaulieu wasn't going to Clarkson get away with it and skated to the defense of his teammate, triggering an eventful fight after the hit.

Clarkson got major penalties for fighting and interference as well as a game misconduct, totaling 27 penalty minutes in just 2:31 of ice time. Gonchar suffered an upper-body injury and left for the locker room. A known antagonist, Clarkson drew the ire of numerous fans across social media.

A league expulsion is unlikely, but another suspension may be in store for one of the league's most reviled players.
