Bruins honor fist-bump kid Liam Fitzgerald with own trading card

Liam Fitzgerald fist bumped his way into Bruins fans' hearts last year. Now the organization is honoring the 9-year-old cancer survivor with his own trading card.

The Boston Bruins are repaying a little boy for stealing hockey fans’ hearts with his own trading card. 

Liam Fitzgerald fist bumped his way to fame after video of him making friends with Bruins players during a pregame warm-up last year went viral. With the help of Upper Deck, the Bruins have given Liam a hockey fan’s dream: his own trading card for being a heroic inspiration.

The 9-year-old is more than just a cute kid in a jersey—Liam is as much as a fighter as Milan Lucic. He’s not dropping gloves on the ice, but Liam defeated cancer in 2011, and he also has Down syndrome. But none of that has gotten in the way of his pure excitement in being a hockey fan. 

Liam was even back doing what he does best during Thursday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.
