Watch: Carl Hagelin helps Rangers advance with OT goal vs. Penguins

Carl Hagelin sent the New York Rangers onto the second round of the playoffs with his Game 5 overtime strike against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Rangers are headed to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs after forward Carl Hagelin played the role of hero in scoring his first career playoff overtime goal 10:52 into the extra frame. The tally sent the Penguins to a 2-1 defeat and a 4-1 series loss, making it the second straight time Pittsburgh's season has come to a close at the hands of the Rangers. 

Hagelin skated out of the corner the with puck, curled around at the faceoff dot, and rifled a shot past Pens goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. The goal was his second of the postseason, and marked the third straight game in which Hagelin notched a point.

GAME 4: Hayes scores in OT to give Rangers 2-1 win over Penguins

As one would expect, the Rangers bench got in on the celebration, most notably coach Alain Vigneault. 

The Rangers take on the winner of the Capitals-Islanders series. The Capitals currently lead 3-2.
