Rangers' Mats Zuccarello 'skated lightly' Monday, still out indefinitely
New York Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello skated lightly Monday morning, but remains out indefinitely.
After Monday's morning skate, Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault said Zuccarello is "just going through the process of getting healthy. He's skated a little bit on his own today, and I'm assuming that's going to get a little longer here as we move forward."
Zuccarello has been sidelined for New York since Game 5 of the Rangers' first-round playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, when he was forced to leave the game after taking a puck to the head. A few days later the team announced that he would be out indefinitely.
This season, Zuccarello scored 15 goals with 34 assists. During his brief stint in the playoffs before his injury, he tallied two assists.
The Rangers will play the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals on Monday night. They won Game 1, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
