Vancouver Canucks prospect Jacob Markstrom made a remarkable diving stick save for the Utica Comets in Game 5 of the AHL's Western Conference finals against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
With the Comets shorthanded early in the second period, Markstrom helped preserve a 3–1 Utica lead by stopping a shot through traffic with his pad. He then dove across the wide-open goalmouth to deny Griffins defenseman Ryan Sproul and made a third stop with his blocker on the other side of the net.
Utica hung on to win the game 3–2 and take a 3–2 advantage in the series. The Comets can close out the series at home on Tuesday night and advance to the Calder Cup final against the Manchester Monarchs.
