Brad Richards signs one-year deal with Red Wings

Veteran center Brad Richards has signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings, the team announced Wednesday.
The deal is for $3 million but is worth up to $4 million including playoff bonuses, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reports.
Richards, 35, signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks last summer after the New York Rangers bought out the final six years of the nine-year, $60 million contract he signed in 2011.
The Blackhawks did not contact Richards to pursue re-signing him, Chris Kuc of The Chicago Tribunereports.
Richards played 76 games for the Blackhawks and scored 37 points while averaging a career-low 14:53 of ice time per game. He added 14 points during Chicago's Stanley Cup run.
