Cody Franson signs two-year contract with Buffalo Sabres
Free-agent defenseman Cody Franson has signed a two-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres, the team announced on Tuesday.
The deal is estimated to be worth around $3.3 million per year, which is what Franson made last season.
The Toronto Maple Leafstraded Franson last season to the Nashville Predators, who had initially drafted the defenseman in 2005.
In 23 games with Nashville, Franson had just four points, a contrast to his 32 points in 55 games with the Maple Leafs before the trade. He has had 35 goals, 134 assists and 169 points over the course of his career.
Franson, 28, played on one-year deals for the past three seasons. He was one of the top unrestricted free agents this off-season.
