Tom Hanks, Martin Short star in bizarre junior hockey commercial

The OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs got a literal shoutout from Hollywood stars Tom Hanks and Martin Short.

The new Hamilton Bulldogs haven't yet played their first game, but they already lead the Ontario Hockey League in celebrity fans.

Oscar-winner Tom Hanks and Emmy-winner Martin Short have pledged their devotion to the club in a low-tech but very high-energy video that features over-the-top referee impressions, many loud noises and declarations of love for the club.

The Bulldogs, recently relocated from Belleville, will open their season at home on Sept. 26 against the Oshawa Generals. No word yet if their most famous cheerleaders will be on hand, but no one should rule it out. After all, this isn’t the pair’s first foray into Hamilton sports fandom. Short, a native of the southern Ontario city, took Hanks to watch the CFL’s Tiger-Cats take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 101st Grey Cup back in 2013.
