Early in the first period with the Rangers leading 1–0, a rebound out front found Steen with a wide open net, but a desperation effort by Lundqvist cleared the puck out of the crease.

The Rangers defeated the Blues, 6–3. Lundqvist stopped 31 of 34 shots and is now 9-2-2 on the season, with a 1.76 goals against average and .946 save percentage.
