With his team down 2–0 in the second, the Penguins star took matters into his own hands, stealing the puck around the opposing blue line and taking on a defender solo, spinning around the right faceoff circle and lofting a backhanded shot past Anders Nilsson for his first goal of the game.
Malkin would score his second goal of the game later in the second period to knot it at 2–2.
Malkin now has 11 goals and 11 assists on the year.
